A good garment is chosen once and cared for always. In Scotland they know this well: a well-kept jumper is handed down from father to son. These are the habits we recommend so your Bracken bridge garments stay with you for many years.
Shirts
Wash them at 30 °C, inside out and with the buttons undone. Avoid the tumble dryer: dry them on a hanger, smoothing the collar and cuffs by hand. Iron them while still slightly damp: cotton and linen are easier to tame and the fabric suffers less.

Lambswool and cashmere knitwear
Knitwear doesn’t need frequent washing: air it after wearing and wash only when needed, by hand or on a wool cycle, in cold water. Dry it flat on a towel, never hanging, and store it folded. If small bobbles appear, remove them with a knitwear comb: it is normal in natural fibres and is no sign of poor quality.
Chinos, polo shirts and socks
Wash chinos inside out to keep their colour and don’t overload them with detergent. Polo shirts and socks are best washed with similar colours and without bleach. Let shoes and socks rest for a day between wears: the fibres recover their shape.
Storing well is caring
Wide wooden hangers for shirts and jackets, drawers for knitwear and a few cedar balls against moths. When the season changes, put garments away clean: invisible stains set over time.
